Teachers: Holiday Game Boards

Teachers-- looking for a great activity before the holiday break? These game boards are perfect to use for current a current lesson, review, or fun get-to-know-you activity for class! 1 set of 18 get-to-know-you cards are included for free!

What do you do in class the day before students have a long break, or the day of a holiday like Valentines Day? They're usually not up for a lecture or much direct teach. This bundle includes gameboards for Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween, Spring Break, and the first or second day of school! These can be used with ANY gamecards for ANY subject and EVERY grade level. The best use for them I have done is pairing them with some simple review cards from the current unit of study or a review of all content covered.

One strategy that has helped me tremendously for review and spiraling is this:

During each current unit of study, copy and paste a few questions into a powerpoint (one per slide). Whenever an opportunity comes to "review" or if you find free time in any lesson plans, print out the slides as "handout", 6 per page, and cut them out. Then have the students use the cards as game cards with any of these game boards. All you need are the cards and something to use as game pieces. I like to have students create their own game pieces on the first day of school that they keep at their tables or in their binders :)

If you do not have gamecards to use, print a worksheet and number notecards with the numbers corresponding to the problems on the page. Students will pick a card and work that problem. It's a great way for students to have FUN while doing work :)

NOTE-- For the Christmas board, point values will have to be assigned to your gamecards/problems! For example, question number 6 is worth 4 points, number 2 is worth 3 points, etc.

Here's a sneak peek of the Christmas board! Included are the Santa cards students will need as a fun element, similar to Chance and Community Chest cards in Monopoly.
